SBC-UW Faculty Advisor, Dr. Kristina Navarro, is helping coordinate the program through UW-Whitewater, but strongly encourages UW-Madison students to apply because all three credits are transferable back to UW-Madison. Students will develop an enhanced understanding and appreciation for international sport and recreation. Students will be introduced to and apply concepts of international sports marketing, branding, sponsorship, fundraising, and grassroots program development via an international experience in Australia. This course seeks to broaden students’ perspectives with respect to the global influence of sport and recreation on culture. The course is designed to complement classroom learning for the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and coaching (HPERC) as well as those interested in sports and recreation. For those unfamiliar with RotoWire, we're a fantasy sports company that provides content to partners such as ESPN, Yahoo, DraftKings, FanDuel, SiriusXM, BleacherReport, NBA.com, and a number of other respected companies in the sports industry. We also have RotoWire.com, a subscription-based website that caters to both year-long and daily fantasy. In addition to the four major sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL), RotoWire also covers CFB, CBB, Golf, Soccer, MMA, Cricket, NASCAR, CFL, WNBA, and eSports (LoL, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Call of Duty, CS:GO, and Halo). Interns are expected to come into the office three times per week for 3-4 hours depending on their availability for the semester. Most internships last one semester, but some of our interns have returned for multiple semesters, and our best interns can step into part-time paid roles after their internship is complete.
